Ilhan Kyuchyuk awarded students from Bulgaria and North Macedonia with a visit to Brussels.

Students from Veliko Tarnovo, Skopje, and Burgas were welcomed by the Ambassadors of Bulgaria and North Macedonia to the EU, as well as the Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia.

MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk hosted a group of students from Bulgaria and North Macedonia in Brussels. The three-day visit of students from both countries was part of the contest “Draw Me Bulgaria, Draw Me North Macedonia.” The artworks were created by students from the “Ismail Kemali” Primary School in the Chair municipality of Skopje, North Macedonia, and the “Vela Blagoeva” Secondary School in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria.

The meeting with the MEP was also attended by North Macedonia’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, Bojan Maricic, and the Ambassadors of Bulgaria and North Macedonia to the EU.

“We must build bridges between our two nations, not walls. You are the future of our countries, and the example you set is important for good neighborly relations. I believe that with joint efforts, we can continue to strengthen these ties and achieve great things,” Ilhan Kyuchyuk told the students.

According to North Macedonia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Chief Negotiator, Bojan Maricic, such initiatives are the best way to cultivate a European awareness among young people.

“I am pleased that from an early age, children from Bulgaria and North Macedonia can experience the European Union and see the work of its institutions firsthand. This is a unique opportunity to foster a European identity and friendly connections—something, unfortunately, our own generations lacked,” Maricic stated.

During the visit, the students learned about the work of the European institutions and had the opportunity to meet and speak directly with the MEP.
