On Bulgaria’s National Day—March 3—MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk welcomed a group of visitors from the Gabrovo and Lovech regions to the European Parliament. On the occasion of the holiday, Bulgarian citizens had the opportunity to gain a firsthand understanding of the work of the European institutions and our country’s role in decision-making at the European level.
The visit to Brussels included meetings and discussions focused on the importance of democratic values, the rule of law, and active civic participation. The guests toured the European Parliament building and learned about the mechanisms of the legislative process in the European Union.
“We fight for freedom every day. Let freedom and values be our compass,” Ilhan Kyuchuk told the group. He emphasized that freedom is not a given, but a responsibility that requires perseverance, courage, and unity.
The MEP also noted that the national holiday is an occasion not only for historical reflection but also for recognizing Bulgaria’s place in a united Europe.
“Today, Bulgaria is part of the European family, and our voice matters. It is our duty to uphold democracy, human rights, and the dignity of every citizen—both here at home and across Europe,” he added.
The visit concluded with a call to young people to be active, informed, and engaged in public life, because they are the bearers of the future and the guarantors of freedom.
