It is our work to ensure transparency, clarity and simplification of the EU legislation. Thereby, I support codification and recast of Council Regulation (EC) No 1528/2007 of 20 December 2007 applying the arrangements for products originating in certain states which are part of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States. In this sense, it is important to note that this proposal contains a straightforward codification of the existing legal text, without any significant change in its substance. On the other hand, this it could serve as a basis for agreement establishing or lead to establishment of Economic Partnership Agreements. Here, it is vital to emphasise the fact that establishment of Economic Partnership Agreements with ACP states will boost their economic growth and will promote reforms.
