Ilhan Kyuchyuk from Hatay: We stand behind the Turkish people with all our strength

The MEP stated that he expects the EU to respond to the disaster in Turkey with strong financial support.

Ilhan Kyuchyuk, MEP from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), visited two of the most affected regions by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey – Adana and Hatay. Kyuchyuk held several meetings, including with Adana Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Deputy Governor Muzafer Sahiner, and the Chairman of the Association of Balkan Turks in Adana, Aziz Sayroglu. The meetings focused on ongoing support for the victims and the EU’s timely response to the devastating earthquakes that claimed thousands of lives in Turkey.

“Turkey has an immense need for human solidarity. On March 20, an international donor conference will be held, and I expect the EU to provide very strong financial support for Turkey at this difficult time. We stand behind the Turkish people with all our strength and will do everything possible to ensure that aid reaches those in need directly, because the EU helps its allies in everything! Today, the entire community thanks Bulgaria and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms for the initiatives in support of the disaster victims,” Kyuchyuk said during a live broadcast from Hatay.

On his part, Aziz Sayroglu, Chairman of the Association of Balkan Turks in Adana, expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for its solidarity and to the Movement for Rights and Freedoms for initiating the campaign that reached European institutions.

“I thank Mr. Kyuchyuk for traveling such a long way to be here with us. I also thank the DPS structures and Mustafa Karadayi for the organized donation campaign and for sending dozens of trucks with humanitarian aid. There are still people who have perished and have not been pulled from the ruins. You can see how vast the scale of the earthquake is. The work here continues, and I hope that we will never again face such disasters,” Sayroglu said during the live broadcast on social media, which he did together with Ilhan Kyuchyuk from Hatay.
