Yesterday in Sofia was presented the book “The Political Campaign of the MRF, as a coalition partner in the National Assembly in the April 1997 elections” by Dr. Nadie Karagiozova. The event was organized by MRF MEP and ALDE co-chair Ilhan Kyuchyuk, who is the author of the book’s foreword.
“I was provoked by the idea that this book will reach young people, because in this way they will better understand the role of the MRF. Such an analysis is of particular importance to party members and supporters, as it recalls the history of the first 7 years of the Movement. The period from 1990 to 1997 was a time of building the first democratic institutions, the repression of communism still resonates in the minds of the people. The role of the MRF is extremely important for the political system of the transition, because it manages to integrate a significant part of the minorities in the political life of the country. There is no other party in Bulgaria that better connects the past and the future, goes through the ups and downs and does not lose its direction of development. That is why the MRF has been the stabilizing factor in Bulgarian politics for more than 30 years.” Kyuchyuk said at the opening of the event.
The MEP commented on the current political situation in Bulgaria, which proves that change should be managed and institutionalized, not used for populist purposes. He emphasized that in its long history, the MRF has never fallen victim to populism.
Special guests were MRF Chairman Mustafa Karadayi, MPs, founders, members and supporters of the party, as well as representatives of the Youth MRF.
