Ilhan Kyuchyuk to guests from Bulgaria: Our country is losing many opportunities because it sends mixed messages to Europe

Students and Representatives of the Grand Mufti’s Office visit the European Parliament at the invitation of MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk

“Bulgaria is confused, sending mixed messages, and as a result, it is losing opportunities. We need to compete with other member states for additional opportunities and funding for our citizens and businesses. However, only the prepared countries and those with stability and consensus on state policies, focused on the future, can fully benefit from these new opportunities. This is the only way that the Recovery and Resilience Plan funds can effectively support small and medium-sized businesses. Unfortunately, we failed to achieve timely agreement to take advantage of these opportunities. That is why the only way out of this quagmire is through open dialogue. We must set common goals and work together as a nation to achieve them.”

This was the statement of MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk from the MRF to the visiting group from Bulgaria. Today, the leader of the European Liberals welcomed a delegation including representatives of the Grand Mufti’s Office and students from Sofia. During their two-day visit, the guests had the opportunity to learn about the infrastructure of the EU and the work of its institutions.

Addressing the audience, Ilhan Kyuchyuk spoke about the foundations upon which the European Union is built—cooperation for shared interests, fostering peace through economic interdependence.

“This formula has worked for the past 70 years. Recently, the EU has been seeking greater internal consolidation and autonomy due to the lessons learned from both the COVID crisis and the war. What’s crucial, however, is that within this community framework, we also learn to defend our own interests and businesses, considering that decisions at the European level directly affect national regulations,” Kyuchyuk added.
