MRF MEP focuses on diversification of energy sources and reduction of EU energy dependence

Ilhan Kyuchyuk met with Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishina. The focus of the talks was Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic perspective and the country’s relations with the EU, energy diversification in Europe and green transformation.

“I firmly support closer cooperation between the EU and Ukraine. “I believe that the best way to successfully integrate into the Union is to promote sustainable economic growth and support green and digital transformation,” Kyuchyuk said at a meeting with Olga Stefanishina.

The MEP focused on diversifying energy sources and reducing the EU’s energy dependence. According to him, in order to guarantee that each country will receive gas, political will is required, because the process is long. Kyuchyuk expressed readiness for deeper co-operation and the need for co-operation between the parties.

Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishina expressed hope for support in building Euro-Atlantic unity around deepening Ukraine’s integration. According to her, this will provide a good response to security threats in the region.

The delegation also held a number of meetings in Brussels with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, and MEPs from the Renew Europe Group.
