Working meeting with Talat Xhaferi

Today I had a working meeting with Talat Xhaferi, President of the Parliament of North Macedonia. We have discussed the decision from the last European Council not to start accession negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania for the third time in 16 months. I called on Mr Xhaferi and the Macedonian authorities not to give up on their path to European integration, but with even more intensive reforms to prove that the country is part of the European family. I strongly believe that the decision not to start accession talks will be revised soon, and the resolution that the European Parliament voted today by a large majority is the first step in that direction.
