“Bulgaria has always looked to Europe and the European model for democratic standards, but we must stop seeing the EU as something external. We need to defend for ourselves the values we have joined and find our own way forward – through expertise, preparation, and a clear vision for overcoming undemocratic practices, with the support of the European Union.”
This was stated by MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk during a meeting with guests from Bulgaria visiting the Belgian capital at his invitation.
Today, Ilhan Kyuchyuk welcomed a visitor group from Ruse to the European Parliament, where participants learned more about the functioning of the European institutions.
Addressing the guests, Kyuchyuk commented on the recent elections in Bulgaria and expressed gratitude to all who, in this difficult and tense situation, stood firm and resisted pressure.
The Renew Europe / Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) MEP drew a parallel between Belgium’s example of coexistence among diverse communities and the diversity within the European Union, stressing that the Union stands as a model of compromise and harmonious coexistence of differences.
