According to Kyuchyuk, there should be less emotion and more pragmatism in the talks between the parties.
MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk met with Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, who is on his first official visit to Brussels since taking office. The talks focused on restoring trust and dialogue, the process of European integration of North Macedonia and initiatives for cultural and educational exchange between the countries.
“It is important for all of us that the process is less emotional, more pragmatic and manageable. To show good will on both sides to overcome differences so that we can focus our energy on economic and social development. The starting point in the conversation should be the European integration and the vision for our shared future, ” Kyuchyuk said.
Dimitar Kovachevski also expressed hope that the renewed relations between the countries will lead to positive results. According to him, it has become clear to the citizens of both countries that many efforts are being made to resume dialogue and strengthen good neighborly relations, and this process should not stop.
The MEP supported the cooperation that has been built at the media, university and business levels in recent months, and said that good examples bring people together and eliminate nationalist lines. According to him, the connection should be deepened at the level of universities and educational centers, which together should prepare young people for the challenges of tomorrow.
