Ilhan Kyuchyuk congratulated MRF on the 33rd anniversary of the party. He sent his congratulations to the founders and all the supporters of the party through a post on his Facebook page.

Dear members and supporters,

Dear allies,

Today is a day for gratitude. For 33 consecutive years, on every January 4th, we thank the founders of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms for the opportunity to be part of the great MRF family, for the lessons and advice, for encouraging ambition and the responsibility towards society that we must recognize every day! We thank you for the confidence, guidance, and trust! Because what is more important than trust? The trust we have been receiving from the voters for many years. It is a fact because we know that trust is the only resource that politicians have, and in politics, as well as in life, it is important to stand by the positions you believe in and not to compromise your principles.

The path we have traveled over these three decades has not been easy. From being a defender of the rights of Turks and Muslims in Bulgaria to being a defender of the rights and freedoms of all citizens. Recognized and appreciated regionally, across Europe, and globally! For years, MRF has been a kind of manual for politics and democracy, which everyone should read and understand its meaning.

The past 2022 showed Europe and the world that peace and war are not abstract concepts. Peace was not valued enough, and at the beginning of last year, Europe felt the heavy blow of war on its back, the consequences of which will affect all of our lives for a long time. It turned out that peace has always been a value, not just a given.

Today, Bulgaria is filled with crises, a number of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and unresolved problems. Resolving many of these problems requires building a bridge between the past and the present. And this is one of the characteristics of leadership. As Henry Kissinger writes in his work “Leadership”: leaders think and act at the intersection of two axes: the first – between the past and the future; the second – between constant values and the aspirations of those they lead.

No change in history has occurred without a realistic assessment of the past, based on the customs and character of a society.

No significant and lasting political success can be achieved without the united efforts of the entire intellectual and political elite of the country. You must be either naive or arrogant to believe that this can happen in the 21st century.

But as they say, fate gives us a second chance… Now it remains for the lessons of the past year to be learned so that we do not repeat the same mistakes in the new one. We, the MRF members, know well from Mr. Dogan – “the case, i.e., the opportunity, helps the prepared.”

Happy birthday, MRF!
