The leader of the European Liberals, Ilhan Kyuchyuk, made a clear statement earlier today regarding the search for investigative journalist Hristo Grozev by Moscow.
“The news of the search for journalist Hristo Grozev by Moscow raises a number of questions that directly and indirectly affect our entire society.
First, we must ask ourselves about freedom of speech both at the national and global levels. Second, what is the role of the state and the prosecution in such a situation?
And the most important question for us as a nation is: do we have the courage to stand up against such a violation of human rights and freedoms and speak out loudly about it to the world?
As for myself, I know the answer. At the first opportunity, I will invite Hristo Grozev to meet with the Members of the European Parliament from the liberal family, as well as with the leadership of the ALDE party.
I am firmly convinced that only with clear messages and a strong European and liberal voice can we silence the authoritarian tactics of governance!” wrote Kyuchyuk on Facebook.
