Ilhan Kyuchyuk is among the elected members of the plenary sessions of the Conference on the Future of Europe

The MEP has been nominated for his hard work in the EP’s Foreign Affairs Committee and will be responsible for the priority axis “Europe in the world”.

MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk has been elected to represent the Renew Europe group in the plenary section of the Conference on the Future of Europe. Depending on its size, each political group in the EP has the right to nominate a number of MEPs to represent it in plenary. This is a huge success for the Bulgarian politician, because he is among the 108 representatives who will take part in the plenary sessions.

Discussions during the meetings will be structured thematically around the recommendations of the citizens’ panels and the information gathered from the multilingual digital platform. The platform is the only place where information from all events related to the Conference will be collected, analyzed and published.

Co-Chair of the Executive Board of the Conference for the Future of Europe Guy Verhofstadt said: “The conference will be much more than an exercise in hearing. It will be a way for real participation of citizens in shaping our common European future. The foundations were laid: digital and deliberative democratic experiments that never have not been tested at EU level so far. We will ensure that their concerns and suggestions then receive a political response. ”

MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk is the first Bulgarian MEP who launched the Bulgarian participation in the Conference on the Future of Europe with online event, which took place on May 11. According to him, the Conference on the Future of Europe is important because in a time of change allows Europeans to express their expectations from the European Union to adapt it to the future. This conversation will be led by citizens, from every corner, from different points of view. The idea of representative democracy will not be replaced, on the contrary – it will be strengthened.

The online conference, organized by the Bulgarian politician, was attended by Guy Verhofstadt, Co-Chair of the Executive Board of the Conference for the Future of Europe and the Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography Dubravka Šuica.

The Executive Board will soon set a date for the first plenary session of the Conference. Preparations for civil panels has begun and the number of participants and the events of the multilingual digital platform Conference increases.
