MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk congratulated the MRF on the party’s 32nd anniversary. He greeted the founders and all party supporters with a post on his Facebook page.
Dear founders,
Dear supporters,
For us, January 4 is not just a date, but an occasion to look back at history and look to the future. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms was created as a result of the pain of the so-called “Revival Process”. And in a short time he managed to become from a defender of the rights of minorities in Bulgaria, to a planetary defender of rights and freedoms. Few people in Bulgaria dare to say it out loud, but the causes we defend and the international recognition we receive speak for themselves.
Last year and this year put us in front of the COVID-19 test. The Omicron is on the rise and we need to be committed and responsible to achieve the expected pandemic recovery. And this crisis has proved to us that human rights and freedoms have never been obsolete or an old ideology, but on the contrary, they are given even greater importance in the civilized world.
Unfortunately, public trust has been broken today. According to all world minds, the biggest challenge will be the inability of governments to convince citizens of their right decisions. It turns out that trust is our strongest social asset, for which, however, we must work. And as Dr. Dogan taught generations of young politicians, “trust is the only resource a politician has.”
And here’s how we live in a world of paradoxes. It turns out that it is easier to trust technology than legitimately elected governments. This is the result of the long-held belief that we live in a “liquid society”, as Umberto Eco wrote.
A society without the need for intellectual leadership. And until we realize its necessity, we will continue to use words like vision and resilience, without putting any meaning into them.
As societies over the years, we have chosen easy solutions. Bulgaria is no exception. We were offered the easy voyage, which we do not know where it will take us.
The newly elected Bulgarian government is proof of this. But as it is commonly said – let’s give them time.
Besides, time will only belong to us if we feel its tempo. And we dispatchers have always understood this rule.
Happy 32nd birthday, MRF!
