The meeting addressed the EU’s continued support for Ukraine, trade policy and its contribution to the EU’s competitiveness, as well as migration.
During the meeting with liberal prime ministers, Kyuchyuk once again emphasized Bulgaria’s membership in the Schengen Area as a matter of equality for Bulgarian citizens and opportunities for economic development.
“Undoubtedly, the political instability in Bulgaria has had an impact, raising concerns among the prime ministers of Schengen countries, but it should not hinder our membership in the Schengen Area. We must overcome this situation in the name of our European future, but above all, for the sake of Bulgarian citizens, a consensus is needed,” Kyuchyuk stated.
He noted that Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen Area would improve the quality of life for citizens, enhance the country’s economic performance, and have a positive impact on tourism and living standards.
The liberal leaders’ meeting also discussed the International Donor Conference for those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
During the European Council, the leaders will continue discussions on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in all its dimensions and the EU’s commitment to maintaining comprehensive support for Ukraine.
