The introduction of emergency autonomous trade measures for Tunisia marks the beginning of a new era in relations between EU and Tunisia, a new approach in Euro-Mediterranean political region. It has been clear that Tunisian economy needs support in particular after last year terrorist attack which severely damaged tourist industry (Tunisia’s main economic sector). Therefore, exceptional and temporary free access to European market will really benefit the Tunisian economy. Last but not least, the introduction of emergency autonomous trade measures for Tunisia will facilitate negotiations between the Union and Tunisia on the establishment of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).
