The MEP was confirmed as President during the ALDE party congress
The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Party held its 41st Congress on 11-12 June. Taking into account the ongoing exceptional circumstances, the event took place in a hybrid format in Brussels, Belgium and online.
The ALDE member parties gathered for the highest decision-making authority of the Liberal party and overwhelmingly supported the MRF MEP – Ilhan Kyuchyuk, as one of its two presidents.
“It is good news that one of ALDE’s new presidents is from Eastern Europe. Liberals are expanding their geographical presence in Europe and in this sense the support is not only an acknowledgment for the MRF, which established itself over the past 3 decades as a guarantor of liberal values, but also for Bulgaria and the region. We send a strong message to citizens in the newer Member States and in the Western Balkans, that their voice is being heard and accounted for from within the European processes rather than being static observers. And this is extremely important, given the upcoming Conference on the Future of Europe, which aims to reform the EU and outline the future priorities for economic recovery, digital and green transformation.” Kyuchyuk said after receiving the liberals’ support.
Liberals and Democrats across Europe created their family in 1976, and after growing, in 1993 established even further to form a true European political party, fighting to this day for rights, freedoms and liberal values. Consisting of more than 70 member parties and thousands of individual members across the EU, ALDE is one of the largest European parties, solidly represented in the European Council, the European Commission, the European Parliament, and other EU institutions.
