Ilhan Kyuchyuk twinned Belitsa and Cair municipalities

The leader of the European liberals, Ilhan Kyuchyuk, established a sisterhood between the municipalities of Belitsa and Chair, Skopje. The agreement was made yesterday between the mayors of the two municipalities when the MEP visited Skopje to participate in a conference of the Liberal-Democratic Party (LDP) in North Macedonia.

The mayors of Belitsa, Radoslav Revanski, and Chair, Visar Ganiu, were unanimous in their belief that laying the foundations for future cooperation would lead to improved well-being for both municipalities and enhance cultural exchange and good neighborliness. As a symbol of their unity, Revanski and Ganiu exchanged souvenirs representative of their municipalities.

In his speech to the conference participants, the leader of ALDE (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) stated that for liberals in the EU, it is important for enlargement to continue, as this could help countries like the Republic of North Macedonia transform their societies and economies. He expressed his pleasure that North Macedonia is showing stability regarding internal reforms, as they benefit the entire country and future generations. According to Kyuchyuk, North Macedonia demonstrates the best democratic transition in the Western Balkans region.

After the conference, Kyuchyuk also met with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovachevski. The two discussed the country’s path to the EU and the challenges facing Bulgaria and North Macedonia in overcoming differences and focusing on economic and social development. Kyuchyuk was adamant that the starting point should be European integration, EU enlargement, and the shared future of both nations in a united Union.
