Bulgarian MEP from MRF/“Renew Europe” and Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee in the European Parliament, Ilhan Kyuchyuk, welcomed a visitor group today from Silistra, Dobrich, Pleven, and Veliko Tarnovo. The visit was part of his ongoing commitment to fostering closer engagement between European institutions and EU citizens.
During their visit, the guests had the opportunity to learn more about the work of the European Parliament, its structure, and its role in shaping European policies.
“In recent years, the European Parliament has gained more influence and is becoming a traditional parliament, not just an assembly as it once was. It is an extremely flexible and citizen-oriented institution with the ambition to evolve—and to change the entire system along with it,” Kyuchyuk emphasized.
He also highlighted that diversity within the European Union is one of its greatest strengths, using Belgium as an example:
“The Belgian model of coexistence between different communities illustrates the complexity of the EU. Everyone wants to find their place under the umbrella of the Union—whether for economic benefits, value alignment, or aspirations for a stronger geopolitical role. The EU is a unique example of compromise and coexistence in diversity.”
