“The current EU approach to justice lacks a clear long-term strategy—where do we want to see Europe in 10 or 20 years? We need a concrete roadmap backed by a reliable impact assessment. This roadmap should be built on a reflection of societal needs in the short, medium, and long term. We must examine how we can improve judicial systems in the Member States, but also how to use their stability and potential as a foundation for positioning the EU as a credible global actor in the field of justice. Only then can we pave the way to economic growth through legal certainty.”
This is what Ilhan Kyuchyuk, Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee in the European Parliament, stated during the “Justice for Growth” forum. The high-level event was opened jointly by European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice and Rule of Law Michael McGrath, Polish Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar, and MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk.
Kyuchyuk further emphasized that the values carried by justice must not be subordinated to economic goals. However, where justice can support growth and the development of European citizens, businesses, and societies, all possible measures should be explored to create an environment that both upholds justice and enables prosperity.
“Economic stability, investor confidence, and public well-being rely on a strong legal framework—one that promotes legal certainty, fairness, transparency, efficiency, access to justice, and legal education,” added the Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee in the European Parliament.
