The Members of the European Parliament from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms participated in a series of meetings on issues of key importance for Bulgaria together with the Chair of the “Renew Europe” political group.
Dacian Ciolos, Chair of the third largest group in the European Parliament – the liberal-centrist formation, whose members are the MRF MEPs – Ilhan Kyuchyuk, Iskra Mihaylova and Atidzhe Aliyeva-Veli, visited Bulgaria under an invitation of the Chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms – Mustafa Karadayi. During the visit, meetings were held with the Deputy-Chair of the Bulgarian National Assembly, Dr. Nigyar Dzhafer, with the leadership and parliamentary group of the MRF.
In the working part of the program, the MEPs from MRF and the Chair of “Renew Europe” took part in a discussion on common agricultural policy and in a meeting with local authorities. Dacian Ciolos, former Minister of Agriculture, Prime Minister of Romania and Commissioner for Agriculture, stated that he clearly understands the importance of the sector for both the development of Bulgaria and providing for clean food and clean environment in line with MRF’s priorities, and that it is precisely because of that, that the European funding instruments should be fully and effectively used.
The “Renew Europe” political group focuses in its work on the need for reforms, institutional change, active citizen involvement and finding European solutions to European problems, by insisting that renewal and reforms based on the European principles are needed in order to answer the citizens’ challenges.
“MRF’s priorities are EU priorities. They are fundamental to the “Renew Europe” group. The MRF delegation is also very active, with the three MEPs working on major topics at the European Parliament, so I expect even stronger contacts between Renew Europe and MRF during this term.”, underlined Ciolos.
“This is the first visit to Bulgaria of the Chair of our political group in the European Parliament. The fact that it is happening at such an early stage since the start of the new term clearly demonstrates the commitment of our European partners in supporting Bulgaria’s liberal development, supporting its reform, sustainable agriculture and development of small municipalities. It is no coincidence that Renew Europe’s commitment is “to change Europe, precisely because we believe in its future” – and the Movement for Rights upholds the same vision for Europe and for Bulgaria”, said Ilhan Kyuchyuk, Head of the MRF Delegation in the EP.
“The visit of the Chair of “Renew Europe” in Bulgaria and his meetings with the MRF are at a very important moment for the EU and our country. The EU is proposing a new strategy for the coming 10 years, a Green course, which would render profound changes to all sectors. The MRF is insisting for and proposing quality and effective reforms for accelerated development of the country, in the context of the overall EU strategy”, stated Iskra Mihaylova, a Vice-Presidents of “Renew Europe” Group in EP.
“For the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, the support to the Bulgarian farmers and rural municipalities is of particular importance. We must guarantee the development of these regions and the citizens living in them and that is why we will continue to focus the attention in Brussels on the importance of the common agricultural policy and we will work for clearer rules and more opportunities. I am delighted to see understanding and support of our political group’s leadership in EP on those matters”, said MEP Atidzhe Alieva-Veli, a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.
