European Agenda on Security (debate)

Dear Mr. President,

The challenges that we faced last year made clear that threat to EU internal security became more complicated and unconventional. It is becoming harder to foresee them, and their management requires common integrated approach on behalf of all member states with clear cut division of the task on European and national level.

The main reasons for the rising criminality are the increasing inequality, poverty, racism and xenophobia, that cannot be dealt with security measures. They need to be examined in wider context which includes social policy, employment and education, as well as measures for reintegration of the most affected communities from our societies.

In conclusion, I would like to welcome the European Programme on Security for 2015-2020, proposed by the EC as well as its priorities. I would like to stress also that we should be ready to face new challenges in the nearest future.

Thank you for your attention!
